Take CBSE's external exam to get admission in Class 11 2011

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) may have announced scrapping the Class 10 Boards examinations in its affiliated schools from 2011 for students who do not wish to move out of the CBSE system after Class 10.

The Board has, however, come up with a unique way to cover up for this and ensure that only ‘eligible’ students are promoted to Class 11.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Mrs. D. Purandeswari, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, has clarified that students studying in CBSE’s Secondary Schools will be required to appear in the Board’s ‘External Examination’ because they will be leaving the Secondary School after Class 10.

This External Examination would form the basis for students selecting their stream while getting admitted into Class 11.

For students who wish to migrate from one CBSE school to another CBSE school after Class 11, would also have to appear for an examination
